About us
Tranca da Barriga - Casa do Vinho was born out of the desire to share everything that makes the Serra da Estrela region so special: the authentic flavors, the stunning landscape, the calm of the vineyards and the hospitality of those who know how to receive.
Located between the picturesque parishes of Dominguizo and Vila de Tortosendo, Quinta de São Tiago covers 99.5 hectares of land.
It is just 5 minutes from historic Covilhã, a city with over a century and a half of rich tradition in the textile industry, as well as being home to the University of Beira Interior.
The region is known for its production of cherries and peaches, not forgetting its proximity to Portugal's only winter sports resort in Serra da Estrela and its reputation for its famous cheeses, made exclusively from sheep's milk, known throughout the world as Serra da Estrela cheese.
Quinta de São Tiago enjoys exceptional sun exposure, providing spectacular views from sunrise to sunset. Surrounded by three stunning mountain ranges - the imposing Serra da Estrela, Serra da Gardunha and Serra da Argemela, this landscape enchants all visitors looking for experiences that evoke the aromas, flavors and sensations typical of the region.
This Quinta is part of the demarcated region of Beira Interior.
Its 25 hectares of south-facing vineyards are home to a variety of five distinct grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Jaen, Trincadeira and Alfrocheiro.
The wines have won several awards over the years, with special emphasis on the wines awarded in 2009, 2011 and 2015, which received the prestigious gold medal.
Quinta de São Tiago is surrounded by stunning landscapes, offering guests the privacy that only nature and unforgettable views can offer, combined with unique and exceptional gastronomic experiences.
Welcome to Casa do Vinho. Make yourself at home in the heart of Beira Interior.
